When it comes to gadgets we are a household that is full of them, thanks my gadget geek of a hubby.
Our most recent purchase, in my eyes is one that I think will be well used.
Morphy Richards 48282 Coolwall Fastbake 2lb Graphite
A breadmaker!!
We bought this last Sunday – and in actual fact the one we got wasnt the one we had actually ordered in Argos. We were looking for the compact 1lb breadmaker, and that is the order code we used and paid for….
Turns out when we got to my mums, that it is was the one in the picture above instead! According to the box it stated the code we bought – but this machine is worth about £100 not the £49.99 we paid for – so a bargin for us indeed!
In a way I am glad we ended up with this one – it has so many more functions and loaf sizes and by far a better buy than I think the compact one would have been.
Feautres:
- 3 loaf sizes – 1lb, 1 1/2 lb and 2lb
- 3 crust settings – light, medium, dark
- 12 settings (for differnt types of bread)
- 13 hour programmable timer
- Large viewing window.
It comes with an instrucstion book which also has easy to follow recipies, and it also comes with a measuring cup and spoon.
As soon as we got it out the box we couldnt wait to try it out so had to take a trip to Tesco to get the ingredients.
The recipies are straight forward and easy to follow thanks to the measuring cup and spoon, you have to make sure to put the ingredients in the pan in the order stated and the amounts are correct. So far we havent had any “mishaps”
The viewing window is just great – our first batch we made you couldnt tear me away from the window for wathcing the machine do its magic.
You can programme it to start up to 13 hours later – so waking up to the smell of fresh baked bread has been great this past week
If 3 hours you have a perfect loaf of bread that just tastes so much better than the store bought stuff. Its so tasty that I really dont think I will buy another loaf of bread from a shop every again.
The ingredients that you will have to buy on a regular basis is the flour, yeast and powdered milk – sugar and salt and possible sunflower oil are you basic cupboard essentials and most people will have these.
I never thought I would ever own a breadmaker – let alone use it, but so far it has had a fair amount of use for only being a week old
Acutally as I type I have an Italian Herb Bread baking right now and it will be ready bang on lunch time.
If you are thinking about getting a breadmaker or not sure what one to get, then I would totally recommend this one. It ticks all the boxes for me.
JML Bobble Off
price: £5.99
Purchased: Asda
Oh my god! Why have I never bought one of these before now!?
Its the same with all gadgets – you see it, you want it, you dont really need it. This one, however, I would say I needed!
This wonderful little gadget gives your clothes a new lease of life! We all have jumpers that have those annoying little bobbles from over washing, or in my case it seems to be my car seat belt that is cause of the majority of them.
At first I have to admit I was dubious about using this on my favourite jumper – but I needn’t have worried. The “blade” has 2 settings – long and short – which you adjust by simple twisitng the head to your desired lenght of bobble.
I did find you had to apply a certian amount of pressure when on either setting to ensure the bobbles got caught on the “blade” – which reminded me of a cheese grater – so would recommend you use this with the item of clothing on a hard flat surface.
You simply move it over the clothes – i found in a circular motion to work the best and the “blade” does all the work.
My jumpers have a new lease of life and dont look their age anymore. Also have tried it out on the annoying little bobbles on the bedclothes and it works a treat on them too.
If you have anything with bobbles that you dont want to get rid of off but hate the sight of the bobbles then I recommend this little gadget.

Chicco London RedChicco London Winter
Colour: Fuego (Red)
Price: £50
Purchased: Asda (during baby event)
Accessories: You get hood, rain cover and a foot muff.
We decided to test it out on more “rugged” terrain rather than pavement, so we went for a walk along by our local canal.
Firstly I did find it hard to put up and only just realised how heavy it is when it is folded, but having said that we havent used it all that much so I think in time putting it up will get easier. The storage basket has more than enough room to fit my son’s little back pack with food, nappies and wipes etc along with our bottles of jucie and my bag. So more than enough room for things – you just wouldnt get away with a whole weeks shop in there – but then again you wouldnt get that with any pram/buggy anyway! Just bare in mind when you recline it though that you will have a hard time accessing the basket.
Dont hang anything heavy from the handles as it will tip over if you arent holding on – again something that you are advised not to do anyway and again would happen with most lightweight buggys of this kind – so dont let other reivews stating that put you off.
As it is forward facing when you put the hood up you cant see your child, but didnt find that it upset my wee one at all – if anything he enjoyed seeing what was in front of him for a change rather than look at whats behind him or myself for that matter. It gives good coverage especially when you recline it back. There are several reclined postions and I actually prefer this buggy when it is reclined to the iCandy Cherry, as I feel the wee fella is actually “laying” down and not just curved in an tipped backwards postion. The foot rest also can be moved up, down or straight depending on your child.
The wheels handled well on the rough path and I had no trouble manouvering it at all, I thought it would be quite hard to move and shuddery but I was suprised at how well it did move. The front wheels swivel which ease the whole process and they also lock which does help keep more control when on rough paths.
This is given an age rating of 0+ but to be honest I dont think there is that much support for a child under 1 years and I personally wouldnt put a child younger than 9/10 months at the earliest in here, I would keep them in a “proper” pram for as long as possible.
We are using this as a second pushchair mainly to do with space saving in the house and for both our cars – the iCandy wouldnt fit into my old style Corsa now I can get that in and some for of shopping rather then nothing at all.
I would recommend this for a second buggy or for when your child is at toddler stage and doenst need to be in it all the time. It is in my opinion great value for money, and the accessories you get for the price is great considering you have to purchase a foot muff seperate or pay more in the initial price. We wont need to use the footmuff until the winter and I am a bit dubious as to how long it will last staying on with the tiny bit of velcro it has – but I dont think it will be too much of a problem, and as for the rain cover – just make sure the hood is up correct as it can look like it wont cover your childs feet – thank god it wasnt raining today when we tried that out =)
Putting it down seemed to be easier, and it folds umbrella style and has a wee clip to hold it together. It isnt free standing when folded though so needs a good corner to stand up in.
Overall I am glad we chose this buggy, the wee man seems comfy in it, we have no problems manovering with him in it. Safty wise it comes with a 5 point harness and the front locking wheels.
Downside: not free standing once folded, apart from that it is a all round great wee stroller.
